RETN named Best Pan-European Connectivity Provider at the Global Connectivity Awards 2025

London, UK - October 23, 2025 - RETN has been awarded Best Pan-European Connectivity Provider at the Global Connectivity Awards 2025, held last night at the O2 in London. The award recognises RETN’s continued leadership in network innovation, resilience, and sustainable infrastructure development across Europe and beyond.

The accolade reflects RETN’s transformation of what Pan-European connectivity means in 2025: not just scale, but resilience, responsibility, and readiness for the future. Over the last year, RETN has expanded its proprietary backbone to 140,000 km across 44 countries, now featuring more than 970 Points of Presence (PoPs) and multiple new high-capacity terrestrial and subsea routes.

The judges commented: “The Pan-European provider secured the award by redefining network resilience through a unique blend of terrestrial expansion and sustainable hardware innovation in 2024/2025. The novel achievement is Europe’s largest rollout of 400GbE coherent pluggable optics across its network.”

Among its key achievements, RETN:

  • Expanded new markets in Greece, Turkey, Croatia, and the Middle East.
  • Integrated the Marseille–Milan Medloop subsea cable, adding new low-latency, high-resilience alternatives between Southern and Western Europe.
  • Delivered new backbone builds such as Milan–Zurich, Padua–Vienna, and Marseille–Madrid.
  • Expanded metro networks in Warsaw, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam to enhance local loop diversity.

In parallel, RETN completed Europe’s largest rollout of 400GbE coherent pluggable optics across its IP/MPLS and DWDM networks - powered by Juniper PTX and Infinera ICE-X platforms. This milestone reduces energy usage by 40%, cuts carbon emissions by over 50%, and increases available capacity to 100 Tbps.

The company also introduced an AI-powered DDoS mitigation platform that boosts scrubbing capacity by 5000%, integrating advanced cybersecurity capabilities into its IP Transit and DIA services as standard.

Tony O’Sullivan, CEO of RETN, commented: “This recognition reflects the expertise and commitment of our teams across Europe and Asia. RETN is building more than a network - we’re building the resilient digital foundation that our customers and partners rely on. This award reinforces our belief that reliability, sustainability, and innovation can and must go hand in hand.”

The win follows RETN’s recognition as Innovation Disruptor of the Year 2024, and more recently, as the recipient of The Tech Capital Digital Infrastructure Action Award 2025.
