RETN Integrates Medloop Subsea Route For High-Resilience Connectivity Between Marseille, Paris, and Milan

London, Marseille, Milan – 15 April – RETN, the leading independent global network services provider, announces the integration of spectrum services from the new Medloop Cable System into its network, delivering a crucial new subsea route between Marseille and Milan. This strategic addition, combined with a spectrum upgrade on the Marseille-Paris corridor, enhances RETN’s network with increased diversity, capacity, and resilience, addressing growing demand for alternative paths that diversify routing through traditional European hubs.

The Medloop Cable System from Medloop France, and managed by Sipartech, introduces a low-latency, high-capacity link that connects Marseille with Genoa, and Barcelona, complementing existing terrestrial and subsea routes. By reducing reliance on conventional routes through congested and high-risk transit points, this integration bolsters the redundancy of critical infrastructure in Southern Europe and strengthens RETN’s ability to deliver uninterrupted connectivity across the continent.

“Southern Europe’s connectivity landscape is evolving rapidly, and RETN is committed to enabling secure, high-performance, and truly diverse network options,” said Milko Ilari, Head of Southern Europe at RETN. “By integrating the Medloop Cable System, we are extending our end-to-end resilience strategy - eliminating single points of failure and ensuring direct, high-capacity paths from Milan to Amsterdam, London, Madrid, and other key destinations. This is part of our broader vision to decentralise traffic flows and provide enterprise and wholesale customers with best-in-class reliability.”

As Marseille continues to emerge as a major interconnection hub, the Medloop System integration enhances RETN’s role in bridging European and global markets, ensuring customers benefit from optimised performance, expanded redundancy, and seamless connectivity to key cloud, content, and data centre ecosystems.
