Istanbul, London – August 13, 2024 - RETN, the leading independent global network services provider, announces the successful approval of its official infrastructure licenses in Turkey, and expansion in the Turkish market. RETN Türkiye is now fully authorised by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) to offer internet connectivity and engage in the telco business within Turkey. RETN has also joined the ESB (Erişim Sağlayıcıları Birliği), the Access Provider Association, which plays an important role in the country’s responsible use of the internet.
RETN’s Point of Presence (PoP) in Istanbul interconnects with Sofia to the west and Tbilisi to the east, and onwards to RETN’s 870+ PoPs across 41 countries. RETN will provide Turkish Internet Service Providers and Enterprise businesses with high quality IP Transit, Ethernet, Cloud connectivity and DDoS protection services, delivered over the fastest and shortest terrestrial routes, with multiple redundant paths for exceptional service availability and reliability, guaranteeing business continuity.
Turkey’s location as a bridge between Europe and Asia, and its role as a transit point for the Middle East, Caucasus, and Asia, underscores its importance in global telecommunications. RETN aims to leverage this expansion to accelerate connectivity across continents, impacting over half a billion people and addressing growing bandwidth demands in neighbouring developing countries.
Enver Kilic, Technical Director of RETN in Turkey said: “We expanded in Turkey due to its rapid digitalisation and internet growth. With a 2.2% annual increase in broadband penetration, exceeding the OECD average of 1.7%, and significant rises in both fixed and mobile Internet subscribers, Turkey is a rapidly evolving market. We have plans for new PoPs and an exciting roadmap for international connectivity.”
Olena Lutsenko, MD of RETN’s Black Sea Region said: “We look forward to connecting Wholesale and Enterprise businesses to the domestic market and our vast international network across Eurasia.”
