RETN expands its metro fibre network in Warsaw

London/Warsaw/ 20/02/2023 - As part of the development strategy in the CEE region and Poland specifically, international network service provider RETN has further expanded its existing Warsaw metro fibre ring ‘LIM - EdgeConneX WAW1 - Atman WAW2 - Netia DC (Piekna) – LIM’, adding two new PoPs in Poland’s capital. The two-step expansion saw RETN deploy a second fibre ring by adding two diverse fibre routes into Equinix WA2 Warsaw Data Centre, close to Warsaw Chopin Airport, as well as a first route to EdgeConneX WA2.

The added fibre ring makes for greater resilience and improved redundancy on the RETN metro network, allowing clients to use diverse fibre pairs between any two DCs on the metro ring architecture. In addition to its primary services, RETN can now offer dark fibre services that allow for almost limitless capacity and as always maximum security, which make them a preferred choice by businesses and organisations dealing with sensitive information. Local offices and businesses can benefit from the new infrastructure by laying a short and affordable interconnection between their location and RETN’s diversified network.

“The newly implemented routes mean that we can provide full diversity in the capital, including independent connectivity to DCs. Additionally, our customers can get access to RETN’s expansive long-haul backbone network via the Warsaw metro fibre network.” Amy Bajer, Managing Director at RETN Poland & CEE, explains.

RETN plans to further diversify access to its fully own standalone DWDM and IP/MPLS platform by adding more PoPs in Warsaw in 2023, as well as working on additional redundancy routes in Eastern Poland.
