RETN took part in SwiNOG, the Swiss network operator community meeting focused on real-world Internet operations and engineering, in Bern.
Wouter van Renterghem presented how RETN builds resilience into its network using PNIs, peering strategy, and geographical expansion. The talk focused on what actually drives stability at scale, and how these elements work together in day-to-day backbone design.
He also touched on the practical trade-offs in running a global network - balancing efficiency, redundancy, and the ability to keep traffic flowing during major disruptions.
A great opportunity to exchange ideas with the Swiss operator community on how large-scale networks are evolving.
