Ukrainian telecom continues to strengthen the connection during the war: RETN launches a new DWDM route in Ukraine

Ukrainian representative office of the international telecom operator RETN has announced the launch of a new DWDM route Lutsk – Monastyryshche which allows the company to provide an additional route for traffic from the South of Ukraine, bypassing Kyiv, and creating a direct route Odesa-Vinnytsia-Ternopil-Lutsk-Warsaw. 

The new route will also be the fourth border crossing built by RETN to ensure resiliency and route diversity between Ukraine and the rest of the world. 

When the war started in February 2022, it was RETN’s attention to diversity of its network design that played a crucial role in maintaining connectivity on the RETN network and thereby contributing to keeping the Ukrainian internet running. This new route provides additional enhancements, especially for cities in the South of the country.

We increased capacity in the first weeks of the war on the route Odesa - Chisinau - Bucharest - Budapest and now with the new route RETN has implemented additional redundant international backbone data transmission, providing the people of Odesa and Mykolaiv regions better Internet connectivity to the world”, – comments Olena Lutsenko, Managing Director of RETN Ukraine.
