RETN strengthens UK network resilience with new London–Brussels route into mainland Europe

London - July 22, 2026 - RETN, the leading independent global network service provider, today announces the launch of a new London–Brussels spectrum route, strengthening the resilience of its UK–Mainland Europe network through a more geographically diverse connection into continental Europe.

The investment comes as RETN continues to implement its resilient network principles to network architecture. The company places increasing emphasis on true route diversity and infrastructure resilience, responding to the concentration of international traffic across a limited number of established UK–Europe routes and growing awareness of vulnerabilities affecting both subsea and terrestrial networks.

While much of the UK's international traffic is carried through established hubs such as Amsterdam and Paris, RETN's new Brussels route provides an alternative path into mainland Europe, reducing dependency on traditional transit points and improving service continuity for customers with business-critical connectivity requirements.

The route is supported by newly constructed Rotterdam–Brussels dark fiber, creating the foundation for RETN's own DWDM network in Belgium and providing greater operational control of this strategic segment of the network.

Within London, the route follows a geographically diverse exit path, avoiding heavily utilised Docklands egress routes that carry significant volumes of international traffic from East London's data centre clusters. The new London-Brussels route also uses a different landing station in London from the previously announced low-latency CrossChannel UK-EU route that departs from Slough in west London. The new route provides an additional level of physical diversity for traffic entering and leaving the UK.
